On the Devon/Dorset border, 1, The Bothy is a beautiful Grade II listed
converted Victorian farm building on the prestigious Rousdon Estate, near
Lyme Regis, Dorset. The Estate is set amidst 350 acres of parkland with
a private beach (not for the infirm, very young or elderly!), with glorious
country walks and scenery to enjoy. The property has been lovingly restored
to an extremely high standard by the owners and is ideal for those wanting
a peaceful holiday in high class accommodation. There is a large private
garden at the rear of the cottage.
The surrounding area, including the famous Jurassic coast, has numerous
country pubs and superior restaurants to enjoy, including River Cottage
and Hix fish restaurant. Other facilities locally include golf, riding,
walking, fishing, swimming, and many other numerous tourist attractions
and of course the glorious unspoilt countryside and beaches.
Prices vary according to the season and length of stay. Low Rate £395
(mainly January, February, March, November), Medium
Rate £495 (mainly June, September), High Rate £750 (July, August
and other peak weeks and school
holidays etc). Friday to Friday changeover for weekly bookings,
but we are flexible and try to help!

1 The Bothy

The accommodation (centrally heated):
The sitting room - The entrance from the private lane opens into
the open plan living area and kitchen with patio doors onto the garden
at the rear.
A handcrafted wrought iron spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine double
bedroom with roof lights (twin beds).
There are two sofas in the sitting area and a kitchen table in the dining
area. TV, DVD, microwave, cooker, washer/drier and fully equipped modern
kitchen.
Downstairs bedroom and bathroom – Twin bedded bedroom with views
over the garden – and bathroom /loo
Outside – The charming garden has a large lawned area and pretty
woodland at the end.
A table and chairs to enjoy those summer days lazing in the sun! There
is a village shop, filling station and coastal bus service at the end
of the Estate drive.
Please note that this is a period heritage listed building and may not
be suitable for young children with the feature spiral staircase and
mezzanine.
Linen by arrangement (not usually personal towels).
The location is near to Lyme Regis, 5 minutes in the car and close to
River Cottage HQ (taxis always available). There are lots of wonderful
eating places and country pubs nearby, either on the coast or inland.
Good local produce at nearby farmshops. A walkers paradise.
